RLC appears on Mass Appeal!

August 19, 2011

On Monday, August 8th, Sera Davidow and Johnna Bossuout from the Western Mass RLC – along with Lorena Norwood from the Greenfield Women’s Resource Center – appeared on 22 News’s Mass Appeal to talk about body image and eating disorders.  At 7 1/2 months pregnant, it was a particularly important experience for Sera who shared that one of her hopes for her soon-to-be-born daughter is that she can support her to have a life where she feels comfortable in her own skin and doesn’t have to experience the pain and self-hatred that so many men and women do.

The appearance was also a great opportunity to talk about the support group being offered through the RLC co-facilitated by Johnna and Don Wentworth and a ‘Women’s Relationship to Nourishment and Body Image” group offered by the Greenfield Women’s Center.

Check out a video of their TV spot here, or click on ‘read more’ to read about the RLC and Women’s Resource Center support groups.

The Western Mass RLC’s Body Image & Eating Disorder Support Group will begin its second session on Friday, September 23rd from  modern_abstract_figure_drawing_of_irenka 4pm to 530pm and run for eight sessions.  It will take place at 187 High Street, Suite 303 in Holyoke.  This co-ed peer support group is intended for anyone who has been diagnosed with an eating disorder or is struggling with an unhealthy relationship to their bodies and food.  It is co-ed and facilitated by Johnna Bossuot and Don Wentworth.

Fore more information, contact Johnna at (413) 539-5941 ext. 316.

The Women’s Relationship to Nourishment and Body Image group is an ongoing group for women that meets at the Greenfield Women’s Resource Center every Wednesday from 1 to 230pm at 278 Federal Street.  Call Lorena for more information or before attending your first group to sign up at (413) 774-4307 x 1.
