Robert will be offering a talk (followed by a Q&A) on his latest book, “Psychiatry Under the Influence” (coauthored with Lisa Cosgrove).

He will speak about how:
  • The public has been misled about what is known about the biology of mental disorders and validity of diagnoses in the APA’s diagnostic manual.
  • These influences have led psychiatry to mislead the public about the safety and efficacy of psychiatric drugs.
  • These influences have encouraged the expansion of diagnostic boundaries and led to biased clinical practice guidelines.

This corruption, he notes, has led to social injury on a grand scale.

The Alternative Perspectives Series is designed to bring together people from all parts of our community (those who provide services and those who have received them, peer supporters, family and friends, students, and the broader community). The hope is that they will have time and space to consider new ideas, and talk about how they might apply to their community.
