The government is currently in the process of distributing “stimulus” checks to most (but not quite all) Americans. Most checks will be automatically calculated and sent to anyone who has filed 2018 (or 2019) taxes, and/or who receives Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). However, if you are someone who isn’t required to file taxes and doesn’ treceive SSI, SSDI (or similar benefits), you may get overlooked.
Unfortunately, as is often the case, this means that some of the people most frequently treated as invisible in our communities are most likely to miss out on getting their checks. They are also some of the people who need the money the most. Although we are far from experts, we have put together a basic fact sheet intended to help people get the money they should receive.
