SUMMARY:Voices\, Visions & Unusual Beliefs Intensive Overview
DESCRIPTION:One in 10 people will hear voices at some time during their adult lives\, yet these experiences are still deeply marginalized in the modern day United States. About 80-90% of experiences are connected to life adversity\, trauma and grief. Many experiences are also connected to cultural or spiritual factors. \n\n\n\nThis overview will provide an introduction to new ways of understanding and working with voices and visions\, based on the Hearing Voices approach. Trainers will cover factors that can influence voice-hearing\, and explore a range of coping strategies that experiencers use (beyond pharmaceutical interventions). \n\n\n\nJoin us for this introductory overview on Thursday October 29th from 12-4pm Eastern Time. \n\n\n\nA note on pricing: We offer all of our public trainings on a sliding scale\, and recognize that sometimes it’s hard to know what to pay. We invite you to be honest about what resources you have access to and what you are able to give to reflect the value of this approach in your life and in the world. \n\n\n\nPlease note: This training will not be recorded. If you would like to learn about future training opportunities\, please sign up for our email newsletter here: https://wildfloweralliance.org/contact-and-newsletter/ \n\n\n\n\nRegister Now

SUMMARY:When Conversation Turns to Suicide (Tues/Thurs)
DESCRIPTION:When Conversation Turns to Suicide is a 16-hour training based in the Alternatives to Suicide approach\, and intended as an alternative to ASIST\, QPR\, and similar approaches that remain rooted in conventional medicalized systems. This training is open to providers\, family members\, peer supports\, first responders\, and anyone else who wants to learn how to offer support to someone who is suicidal. Participants will learn: \n\n\n\n\nCommon Myths about Suicide\n\n\n\nA framework for being in conversation with someone who is struggling\n\n\n\nThe links between trauma (including systemic oppression) and suicide\n\n\n\nThe importance of power sharing\n\n\n\nAnd more!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe training will be held on the following dates: \n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, January 12th\n\n\n\nThursday\, January 14th\n\n\n\nTuesday\, January 19th\n\n\n\nThursday\, January 21st\n\n\n\n\nAll days will be scheduled for 11:00am to 3:00pm Eastern USA time (10:00am to 2:00pm Central\, 9:00am to 1:00pm Mountain\, 8:00am to 12:00pm Noon Pacific) and held on Zoom. \n\n\n\nA few reminders: Participants must miss no more than two hours of training content (not including breaks) in order to receive a certificate of completion. Please note that there are significant similarities (as well as significant differences) between this training and the Alternatives to Suicide Group Facilitator training. Although we still require people to follow our attendance guidelines even if they have completed the other training\, please be prepared for some overlaps in information offered (although we do find that each group is different and there is still much wisdom to be gained even if similar information is being offered). \n\n\n\nNote About Cost of Tickets: Tickets are on a sliding scale. If you’re a Wildflower employee\, or if you’re just trying to make up a day and have paid for the training previously\, please e-mail us at info@wildfloweralliance.org so we can work with you to get you registered! \n\n\n\nPlease note: This training will not be recorded. If you would like to learn about future training opportunities\, please sign up for our email newsletter here: https://wildfloweralliance.org/contact-and-newsletter/ \n\n\n\n\nRegister Now
