Understanding Suicide in the Childhood and Teenage Years
December 9 @ 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Join us for an open conversation about what can lead children and teenagers to experience suicidal thoughts or make suicide attempts—and how we can come together to support young people through these difficult moments.
We’ll explore some of the common myths and misunderstandings about suicide in young people, as well as the ways our families, schools, communities, and environments can adapt to make it easier for young people to feel supported and able to envision a future. We’ll talk about factors that can make some children and teenagers more vulnerable, and about how listening with curiosity and compassion can help us better understand what each young person is going through.
This session will review some of the most up-to-date research findings on suicide and youth, including correlates with social media use, trauma, and other factors.
Join us for this open conversation on Wednesday December 9th from 1pm-2:30pm Eastern Time. (12pm-1:30pm Central, 11am-12:30pm Mountain, 10am-11:30am Pacific)
