Group Facilitator Basics (Wed/Thurs)

November 18 @ 12:00 pm – November 19 @ 4:00 pm

We cover group facilitation basics, trauma-informed approaches to creating a group environment, strategies for navigating challenges & more!

Facilitating groups for people with shared experiences can build powerful connections in an uncertain and often isolating world. What facilitation strategies can help us better create conditions for community-building and transformation?

This introductory training is for folks interested in learning some basic group facilitation skills around a variety of lived experiences such as: substances, gender, race, art, spirituality and more.

We will cover how to effectively open and close group spaces, as well as how to navigate challenging group dynamics. Other topics include:

  • Creating trauma aware environments (including institutional trauma)
  • Honoring multiple realities and belief systems
  • Creating collectively held group values

Note: this is an 8-hour introductory version of our full 16-hour Group Facilitator Training. The full 16-hour training goes more in-depth on the above topics, and provides more time for practice and dialogue.
