Community Dialogues on Racism

July 22, 2016

Black Lives Matter Fist

Dialogue on Healing Racism
Tuesday, September 13, 6pm to 8pm
@ the Holyoke Library,
250 Chestnut Street, Holyoke

Facilitated by: Louis Mitchell & Michaelann Bewsee

This event is intended to create space for people in the local community to come together in recognition of ongoing violence against black people in our nation, and to talk about our own roles in healing racism. We will have the opportunity to explore systemic racism, white privilege, and other issues requiring personal examination in order to make change and not be complicit with the harms being done (though we know, going in, that time will run short and this dialogue will need to be just one of many).

Although open to anyone, this dialogue will particularly be geared toward
white individuals, as it is those of us who benefit most from whiteness that bear the greatest responsibility for undoing its power.

Dialogue on Creating Space
Tuesday, September 6th, 5pm to 7pm
Location To Be Announced

Facilitated by: Earl Miller

This event is intended to create space for people in the local community to come together and talk about the realities of all the traumatic events and violence playing out around us and constantly flooding the news. We will have the opportunity to share how we have been impacted, network and talk about what our support and advocacy efforts might look like moving forward.

This dialogue is specifically for people of color.

Black Lives Matter
Monday August 8, 2:30-4:30
The RLC’s Greenfield Center, 74 Federal Street

Join with the community to discuss recent events, share about systemic racism, and learn how to support the current movement for black lives.

This conversation is primarily intended for white people wanting to learn,
but everyone is welcome.

Racial Justice Film Screening
Friday, August 26th, 5:30-8:30pm
The RLC’s Greenfield Center, 74 Federal Street

Join us for a potluck dinner and a movie with the RLC! All are welcome, even if you cannot bring food. We’ll be watching a documentary film about racial justice struggles (title TBD). Drop by our Greenfield Center to find out what’s playing, or call Jesse: 413-336-3873, or Natan: 413-687-7042.
